The eldest son of Dolphus Sr, Buddy has been fishing commercially for nearly 50 years. From clams and oysters to fish and shrimp, if it can be caught in the coastal waters from Eastern NC to Galveston Bay, Buddy has probably caught it. Growing up on the deck of his father's shrimp boats, Buddy learned from the best and has become a teacher himself. Buddy is the backbone and the wealth of knowledge on which RNR is built.
Devonda is Ruby's eldest grandchild and, much like Ruby herself, is the heart and soul of our family. Following in Ruby's footsteps, Devonda is a woman of faith. It is her love, faith and support that keeps us going. She is the glue that holds us together and keeps this ship afloat. Devonda and Buddy have been married since 1976 and have two sons.
Better known as "Big E", Erik is Buddy and Devonda's eldest son. Erik has many jobs on the farm, from rigging gear to keeping the boats clean and organized. His favorite thing to do is fish for flounder in the fall and hanging (making) flounder nets is his specialty.
Josh is Buddy and Devonda's youngest son and the rudder of our ship. He has the ideas that Buddy finds a way to bring to life. Although, more times than not, Buddy and Josh's wife, Hilary, have to rein in his lofty ideas. Josh grew up on the water, fishing and shrimping with his father and catching clams from lease 8803 with his cousins and great grandmother.
The rudder may steer the ship, but the compass tells it which way to go. Hilary is our compass. She and Josh have been married since 2013 and have two beautiful little girls. From handling the books to helping assemble gear Hilary does it all (Seriously, she's also a teacher and Realtor!). RNR may have been Buddy and Josh's idea, but Hilary is the driving force that brought the idea to life.
Layla Grace and Lilyanna Ruby are Josh and Hilary's daughters and our motivation to keep moving forward. They may look like princesses, but don't let their looks deceive you. These little girls don't mind getting dirty when it's time to work. From helping with gear to sorting and weighing seafood, they like to help with everything! We think Ruby would be very proud of her great great granddaughters!
